The Family Crisis Center of East Texas is a non-profit organization incorporated to enhance the safety of women, children and men by providing crisis intervention and advocacy services to reduce and prevent the occurrence of family violence and sexual assault through education and community awareness.

Our agency provides services that are vital for survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault to establish a safe and secure life free from abuse. Services include 24-hour emergency hotline and emergency shelter, transportation, crisis intervention, case management, legal advocacy, child advocacy, sexual assault advocacy, advocacy for employment and housing, peer support groups, individual and family counseling, therapy groups, emergency financial assistant, and transitional housing. Other community services include prevention and community education.

The Family Crisis Center of East Texas (also called Women’s Shelter of East Texas, Inc.) complies with applicable Federal civil rights laws and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including sexual harassment and pregnancy), gender identification, age, national origin, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law. The Family Crisis Center of East Texas:

Empowers survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault by providing crisis intervention and advocacy services.

Engages the community through education to build awareness and prevent domestic violence and sexual assault.

Notice of Complaints

The Family Crisis Center of East Texas (also referred to as Women’s Shelter of East Texas) complaint procedure is as follows:

ndividuals who feel they have been subject to discrimination or harassment should report this to their advocate. If an individual is uncomfortable discussing concerns with their advocate a grievance may be filed with the Family Crisis Center of East Texas Program Director. The Program Director will review the grievance in conjunction with the Executive Director in all claims of harassment or discrimination. If a resident or nonresident feels that their concerns need further attention, their grievance will proceed to the Board of Directors and the contact information for the Health and Human Service Commission Family Violence Program will be provided at their request.

Any claim of discrimination or harassment will be monitored and acted on in accordance with this policy. Because the Family Crisis Center of East Texas takes any claim of harassment or discrimination with the seriousness it deserves, a corrective action plan will be put in place that seeks to honor this accessibility policy. Those in violation of this policy will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
